BLK JKS & Vieux Farka Toure @ the Highline Ballroom

My favorite South African friends, the BLK JKS, have been taking over NYC for the past month or so. I finally got a chance to catch up with them last night at the Highline Ballroom. And as a bonus I got to see one of my favorite artists from Mali, Vieux Farka Toure. And what a show it was! BLK JKS have tightened their sound and gotten more creative with it to boot. Linda, Mpume, Molefi & Tshepang rocked the stage like the true rock stars they are. Watching Vieux Farka Toure was just as awe inspiring. But the highlight at the Highline last night was when he asked the BLK JKS to join him on stage. Never have I seen so much talent on one stage before. Best show of the year thus far!

Beat Sheet Complete

So I've been taking a screenwriting class this semester which has really helped me develop that screenplay idea I mentioned a few months back. It was a rough start because I had the concept but my structure was all over the place. I'm glad to announce I finally completed my beat sheet yesterday and workshopped my story in class to rave reviews. Can't wait to take Screenwriting 2 this summer and start writing.

That's right, I'm working on a new project. A screenplay to be precise. Taking my first screenwriting course this Spring and looking forward to working on an idea I've had for quite some time now. I'll keep you updated on the goings-on with that as well as everything else.

Yes We Did!

Yesterday my parents voted for the first time. They have been citizens longer than I have. And they chose this year to vote for Barack Obama with me. I have never considered myself an American citizen, I'm a New Yorker at best. But even though this isn't my native land, I'm still proud to be a part of it. I know this is only the beginning, but at least it's a start. Change gonna come!
