An amazing show to say the least. Loide, Abena Koomson & BLK JKS blew the audience away. I knew for certain Abena would deliver a kick-ass show, but Loide and the BLK JKS were a well appreciated bonus. Loide warmed up the stage, her sultry vocals filled the already packed house. Almost bringing us to tears with her song "I Long" (I must admit I shed a few tears).
When my girl Abena took over it was sheer magic. Her powerful voice (of which I, along with the rest of the Funkworthy crew, am no stranger to) penetrated deep into the very center of us all as we swayed to Raymond Medina's beats/guitar and Scott Williams' sax/clarinet playing. Her performance of "Wholehearted" made me realize that "Yes! Abena is singing at my wedding!"
After said epiphany, BLK JKS amped the crowd up with their Mars Volta/ Radiohead inspired epic tracks such as "Lakeside". Loved it so much I made it a point to congratulate them on their performance at the after party. We hit it off so well they agreed to come over for dinner tonight. AWESOME!
